Hello! My name is Matt. For the last 20+ years I’ve been cooking in some of the best kitchens in New York City. In that time I have served all kinds of people – royalty, athletes, musicians, movie stars and thousands and thousands of average folks like you and me. Currently I run the executive dining group for one of the biggest financial firms in the world. You can say I know a thing or two around the kitchen! But this website isn’t about me being a fancy chef. Super Chef Dad is about family and about having fun – learning to enjoy cooking and eating – and savoring what matters most.
We got our start back in March of 2020. I was the chef at a fancy hotel in Manhattan and found myself, along with our entire hotel staff, furloughed at home with nothing to do. Most of us were stressed and depressed. I had the idea to start making these videos as a means of helping people pass the time, stay connected, and get a little laugh in the scary limbo we were stuck in. I started out primarily flying solo, but as we went along, a certain little, somewhat rambunctious, obnoxious, delightfully adorable co-star made her way in – my daughter Zoe!. As it turned out, people liked watching her a lot more than me!
We made a lot of videos together that year and, once the pandemic passed and we were all back to our “normal” lives, we just kept going. Now, five years later, even though time is tight, the videos are something we still love to do.
With any cooking project, the goal here is to enjoy the process. Don’t stress and don’t worry if it isn’t perfect or what you expected. There will be many more tries down the road. Cooking should be, at its fundamental essence, a means of connecting and nourishing families and friends. So take your time, cook with love, have a drink, share a laugh, stay safe, stay sane and, most importantly, HAPPY COOKING!
Love,
Chef Matt and Zoe
