To provide pate a choux recipes with an extra layer of buttery flavor and crispy texture, make this recipe! Pronounce like cracklin' but without the pork, the french craquelin means cracker and is a simple but highly effect way to enhance your baked goods.

Ingredients

  • • 100 grams butter at room temperature
  • • 100 grams dark brown sugar (white sugar if using dye)
  • • 100 grams flour
  • • (optional) food dye

Instructions

    1. Cream butter and sugar
    2. Mix in flour and stir with a spoon until crumbly.
    3. Add dye if using.
    4. Roll between 2 sheet of parchment to 1/8” thick. 
    5. Chill until firm then punch with a ring cutter.
